Adrian Martinez and the Nebraska Cornhuskers are under a lot of pressure to perform this season. So far, the early results are quite discouraging.
When it comes to talent, Martinez has all the tools to be a legitimate star at the collegiate level. Unfortunately, he just hasn’t been able to put it all together.
Martinez has plenty of time to turn things around this afternoon against Illinois. For now, though, the college football world is not pleased with his performance.
With the first quarter almost over, Martinez has completed just 2 of 5 pass attempts for 22 yards. He also has two carries for nine rushing yards.
College football fans are so underwhelmed by Martinez’s performance they’re now ripping him apart on social media.

There are also some people cracking jokes about Martinez’s overall stint at Nebraska. He’s been the program’s starting quarterback since 2018.
“It seems like just yesterday we were watching Adrian Martinez do these same things his freshman year in 1994,” Michigan State reporter Chris Solari tweeted.

Last season, Martinez had 1,055 passing yards, 521 rushing yards and 11 total touchdowns. He’ll need to be so much better this fall if the Cornhuskers want to get back on the right track.
Illinois currently leads 2-0 over Nebraska in the first half. This Big Ten showdown is being broadcast on FOX.
