The Colts‘ preseason camp began on a very bleak note because of Carson Wentz’s injury. A miracle has since occurred.
The initial timetable for Wentz’s recovery had him scheduled to return within five to 12 weeks from his initial injury and surgery. The Colts quarterback is ahead of schedule.
Wentz practiced on Monday for the first time since undergoing foot surgery. And now there’s optimism he’ll be ready in time for the Colts’ season opener against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 12. He told reporters on Monday that he felt “pretty good” after practicing for the first time since the beginning of the month. He also went on to say he’s “optimistic” about his availability for Week 1.
“Videos from reporters at practice showed Wentz moving and throwing the ball without any obvious signs of discomfort for the quarterback,” wrote Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “After the session, Wentz called himself “optimistic” about playing against the Seahawks in Week One.”
