Earlier this week, Los Angeles Lakers small forward Carmelo Anthony sat down with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on “All The Smoke.”
During their conversation, Anthony was asked about his time playing for the New York Knicks. After giving the highs and lows of his tenure there, the conversation shifted to Phil Jackson.
The legendary coach took over the front office in 2014 and that’s when Anthony said everything changed. Jackson reportedly cut off the line of communication between the front office, coaches and the players.
“When Phil came, he was just like, he cut that line of communication off me from the Front Office, from the staff members, even players!” Anthony said on the show. “You know what I’m saying? The minute that I knew that was the game that was being played, like Nah!”
Here’s the conversation.
Anthony was asked if he wants closure with Jackson, but said doesn’t need it.
“Nah! I mean, I don’t need closure. … I know if I had a sit-down with you, you wouldn’t say that. You would say something totally different. You’re gonna tell me something like oh it wasn’t like that. I ain’t really got time for that. I don’t need it at this point.”
It’s clear Anthony won’t be calling Phil Jackson on his birthday any time soon.
