The New England Patriots are in unfamiliar territory, staring at a 2-5 record heading into this Monday night’s tilt against the New York Jets. Quarterback Cam Newton appears to only have one thing on his mind ahead of the contest.
Newton, when asked about how he feels about playing on Monday Night Football, gave a very blunt response. He’s focused on winning the game and helping his team get back in the playoff hunt.
Newton also acknowledged that October was a bad month for him. On top of contracting COVID-19, Newton’s Patriots went winless and fell from 2-1 to 2-5. The Patriots lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Denver Broncos, the San Francisco 49ers and the Buffalo Bills in that span.
Newton wants to have a better November, and who can blame him?
The Patriots have some winnable games this month, but they also have some tests. They’ll take on the Jets, the Baltimore Ravens, the Houston Texans and the Arizona Cardinals. They have quite an uphill climb to catch the Bills, who lead the division at 6-2.
Question: What are your thoughts on Monday Night Football? Memories?
Cam Newton: “Listen, I just want to win. That’s it. Nothing else matters. October wasn’t good for me. We have to make sure November doesn’t feel like October. Monday night is good, but we … have … to … win.” pic.twitter.com/zzItlndCFt

Newton, of course, is playing for his job. After being cut by the Carolina Panthers earlier this year, the Patriots took a shot on him with a one-year deal. Both sides were likely hoping it would turn into something more permanent. That remains to be seen.
The Patriots and the Jets will kick off at 8:15 PM ET on Monday night on ESPN.
