Cam Newton Addresses His Questionable Instagram Post

Cam Newton and Mac Jones at New England Patriots Training Camp.

A recent Instagram post from Cam Newton raised questions among New England Patriots fans and reporters.

In the post, Newton addressed the concept of “loyalty.”

“ím FÂR FRØM ₽£RF£ČT…. büt ŁØ¥ÂŁT¥, í D£§£RV£ ĮT,” Newton wrote in his unique text on his Instagram account.

The post surfaced following the Patriots’ preseason debut against the Washington Football Team.

Naturally, fans believed that Newton was addressing the team’s quarterback battle between himself and rookie Mac Jones. The first round pick out of Alabama looked pretty good in his NFL preseason debut.

Newton is still the starter, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Jones took over the job at some point this upcoming season.

The veteran quarterback claims his recent Instagram post was not football-related, though.

Cam Newton clarified his “loyalty” post on Instagram had nothing to do with football.

Of course, only Cam Newton knows if that’s the truth.

The Patriots’ quarterback situation will be one of the league’s most interesting battles moving forward. Jones wasn’t drafted in the first round to sit on the bench forever.

New England will continue its preseason slate on Thursday against Philadelphia. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. E.T.
