The Tampa Bay Buccaneers appear to be looking for a veteran backup to Tom Brady this offseason.
Brady shocked the NFL world about a week and a half ago when he said that he’s coming out of retirement. He will play with the Bucs for his 23rd season after initially retiring after the season was over.
Bucs general manager Jason Licht spoke to Adam Schein on “Mad Dog Sports Radio” on Wednesday and confirmed that the team is exhausting all options for that backup quarterback spot.
That includes Blaine Gabbert, who was Brady’s backup last season.
“We had Blaine last year on our roster, and that can be a possibility still,” Licht said. “But we’re still kind of checking out the entire market here, and we’ll see what happens here.”
Some options for the Bucs this offseason include Andy Dalton, Cam Newton, Mike Glennon, Trevor Siemian, etc.
Tampa Bay could also draft a quarterback, but that may seem unlikely as it tries to go all-in again this season.
We’ll have to see who Licht targets as the offseason is fully underway.
