The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to address their offense via free agency. On Friday, the team officially announced that it has re-signed running back Giovani Bernard.
After spending nine seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, Bernard signed a one-year contract with the Buccaneers in 2021. During his first season in Tampa Bay, he had 58 rushing yards and 123 receiving yards.
Bernard’s role on the Buccaneers was a bit limited this past season due to a hip injury. However, he did play a key role in the team’s win over the Eagles in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
For the most part, the Buccaneers have done an excellent job of retaining most of their free agents this offseason.

Now that Bernard is back in the fold, the Buccaneers have to feel much better about their depth at running back heading into the summer.
The Buccaneers lost Ronald Jones to the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this year, but they did manage to re-sign Leonard Fournette.
Tampa Bay also has Ke’Shawn Vaughn waiting in the wings. Perhaps he’ll have a breakout season this fall.
