The ongoing beef between Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau has been great for entertainment purposes but has called into question whether or not the two golfer can play alongside one another at this year’s Ryder Cup. As two of the top American players, the team desperately needs them to put their differences aside as soon as possible.
On Wednesday night, United States team captain Steve Stricker said that he thinks that won’t be a problem.
Stricker revealed that he’s spoken individually to Koepka and DeChambeau about their feud and both players agreed that they wouldn’t let their personal feelings toward one another carry over to Whistling Straits next month.
“They assured me that the team and the country and everything else that goes into this is their [top priority],” Stricker said, via John Hawkins of SI. “They said it’s not going to be an issue, and I believe them. I trust them. As far as I’m concerned, it’s been put to bed.”
The United States captain also pointed out that the tension between the two golfers has lessened considerably as of late. As both players focus on the FedEx Cup playoffs, there hasn’t been much time to take shots at one another in the press.
“We haven’t heard Brooks say anything about Bryson lately,” Stricker said. “The Ryder Cup means a lot to these guys. Neither wants to be the root of the problem. They both understand.”

Koepka echoed a similar sentiment to Stricker’s in July at The Open, saying that he would be wiling to deal with anyone for a week if it meant playing at the Ryder Cup.
“It’s only a week,” the four-time major winner said, via ESPN. “I can put it aside for business. If we’re going to be on the same team, I can deal with anybody in the world for a week. I’m not playing with him. I’m pretty sure we’re not going to be paired together; put it that way. I think it’s kind of obvious.
Both DeChambeau and Koepka locked up their automatic qualifying spots for the Ryder Cup team earlier this week. They’ll now turn their focus to the team event and try to bring a win back to the United States for the first time since 2016.
