In a stunning turn of events, Deshaun Watson has decided that he wants to play for the Cleveland Browns. And no, we’re not kidding.
“Deshaun Watson plans to waive his no-trade clause to the #Browns, sources tell me and Tom Pelissero,” NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport announced. “Yes, the Browns!! Trade compensation still to be finalized with the #Texans, but Watson has made his choice: He expects to go to Cleveland.”
What makes this such a surprising announcement is that Watson initially eliminated Cleveland from his list of suitors.
Most insiders thought Watson would choose between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints. Clearly, he had a change of heart.
Watson will get a fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million contract. This is $80 million more than the previous record for fully guaranteed money at signing

Now that Watson is heading to Cleveland, the focus shifts over to Baker Mayfield.
Mayfield requested a trade from the Browns earlier this week. The team had no intention of trading him, but that’ll change now that Watson is on board.
It’s unclear what type of discipline Watson will face from the NFL, if any. What we do know, however, is that he’s an immediate upgrade at quarterback.
