Jeremy Chinn, Las Vegas Raiders, Agree to Contract

After slowing down near the end of his rookie contract, Jeremy Chinn had to sign a one-year prove-it deal with the Commanders as a free agent. That gamble paid off, as the fifth-year had a strong season in a new environment. Starting and appearing in all 17 games, Chinn finished the season with one interception, five passes defended, two sacks, 117 tackles, and seven tackles-for-loss. With his help, Washington surprised the league and made it to the NFC Championship Game. Unfortunately, their magical season came to an end with a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jeremy Chinn originally entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Southern Illinois product started his career on a high note. Starting and appearing in 15 games, the rookie finished his inaugural season with one interception, five passes defended, one sack, 117 tackles, and two tackles-for-loss. While the Panthers missed the playoffs, Chinn played well enough to finish second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.

Chinn returned to his starting role in 2021 and had another strong season. Starting and appearing in 16 games, the defensive back recorded one interception, five passes defended, one sack, 107 tackles, and six tackles-for-loss. The Panthers once again missed the playoffs, but Chinn appeared to be a silver lining and potential franchise building block.

Unfortunately, injuries limited Chinn to just 11 games in 2022, and he didn’t look particularly great when on the field. This subpar play carried into 2023, as he only started eight of the 12 games he played in.

Since signing his rookie contract, Jeremy Chinn has recorded three interceptions, 22 passes defended, six sacks, 441 tackles, and 19 tackles-for-loss.
