The New England Patriots have yet to officially announce a starting quarterback for Week 1, but it sounds like Cam Newton is the frontrunner.
Newton is coming off an up-and-down 2020 season in New England, though according to his head coach, he’s much more prepared to succeed in 2021.
Bill Belichick had a telling admission on Newton on Monday morning, revealing that his quarterback is significantly more comfortable in the offense.
“First of all, offensively, we have a much better balanced team. We’ve added some players that bring an explosive element to our offense … Cam is way more comfortable…” Belichick admitted on Monday morning.

Newton and first round draft pick Mac Jones are competing for the starting job in New England.
Belichick said that the decision will be a simple one – someone will need to play better than Newton to beat him out.
“The fact that Cam started last year, and he’s here, somebody would have to play better than him. Training camp is all about competition,” Belichick added.
The Patriots are scheduled to open the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against the Miami Dolphins. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. E.T. The game will air on CBS.
