Bengals Reportedly Signing Former Ohio State Standout

August 22, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Noah Spence lines up at defensive end.

The Cincinnati Bengals received devastating injury news for one of their rookies on Sunday.

Joseph Ossai, a third-round pick out of Texas, will have knee surgery this week for a meniscus injury. Per NFL insider Tom Pelissero, it’s believed Ossai will miss the entirety of the 2021 season. Ossai was projected to be a key contributor for the Bengals defense this upcoming season. He looked phenomenal in Cincinnati’s first preseason game, coming up with five quarterback pressures and a sack of Tom Brady.

The Bengals are now in need of another edge rusher. It appears they’ve found their man. Cincinnati is signing former Ohio State standout Noah Spencer, according to Pelissero’s latest report.

Spence last appeared in an NFL game back in 2019 when he played in seven games for the Washington Football Team.

Noah Spence had a breakout year at Ohio State in 2013. He totaled 50 tackles, 14 of which went for a loss and 7.5 sacks. Spence transferred to Eastern Kentucky in 2015 after he was suspended and ruled ineligible by the Big Ten because of a failed drug test.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers took the former Ohio State star in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent three years in Tampa before joining the Washington Football Team in 2019.

Spence is now getting another opportunity in the NFL. He’ll have a chance to become a key contributor for a Bengals defense in need of help along the defensive line.
