It turns out the Cincinnati Bengals are going to find some preseason playing time for Joe Burrow after all.
Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor announced this afternoon that the second-year quarterback will play “limited” snaps in Sunday’s preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins.
This will be the first action for the 2020 No. 1 overall pick since he suffered a season-ending knee injury against Washington last November.

Earlier this week, Taylor said both Burrow and starting center Trey Hopkins, who is also coming off knee surgery, are on track to play Week 1, even if they didn’t see time against Miami.
“They’ve shown us enough to know that they’re going to be ready to play,” Taylor said, via the Cincinnati Enquirer. “It’s just a matter of what do we want do? Do we want to put those guys out there in a preseason game or just give them more rest and get them ready for the Minnesota game? We’ll take a couple more days before we make that decision since we’ve got a week here before that game.”
Burrow, who tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee in Week 11 last year, had thrown for 2,688 yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions in 10 games before getting hurt. He reached or eclipsed 300 passing yards in five of those contests.
The Bengals will conclude the 2021 preseason against Miami at 4 p.m. ET Sunday.
