Baker Mayfield is taking his offseason training very seriously.
The current Browns quarterback has hired a new quarterbacks coach. Why is that significant? Because it’s the same quarterbacks coach who works with Patrick Mahomes.
Mayfield is working with Jeff Christensen to improve his mechanics and throwing motion. And although the former No. 1 overall pick’s days in Cleveland are numbered, it’s clear he’s still training to be a starting quarterback in the NFL.
“One last interesting point that I’m hearing is that Baker Mayfield is out in Texas right now working out with Patrick Mahomes’ quarterback coach Jeff Christensen to improve mechanics, to improve his throwing motion,” Tony Pauline said. “That is what Mitch Trubisky did and we saw how well he did in free agency.”
On the latest episode of Draft Insiders, @TonyPauline revealed that Baker Mayfield is currently working with Patrick Mahomes’ QB coach (Jeff Christensen) to improve his mechanics and throwing motion.

Trying to emulate your game after Patrick Mahomes is a tall task, but well worth the effort.
Baker Mayfield, meanwhile, is still a member of the Cleveland Browns. There’s one obviously landing spot left: the Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle is currently expected to start Drew Lock. Mayfield is a clear upgrade and could be an exciting addition to the NFC West, which already features Matthew Stafford, Kyler Murray and the 49ers’ quarterback room that includes Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance.
The Jimmy G market could influence where Mayfield winds up later this fall. Right now, it’s pretty quiet though.
