Arch Manning appears to be adding another contender to his recruitment list, and it’s a surprising addition.
Up to this point Manning – the five-star quarterback in the 2023 cycle – had only been considering powerhouses like Alabama, Georgia, Texas and Ole Miss. However, it doesn’t appear those are his only finalists.
Manning has reportedly scheduled a last-minute, surprise visit to the University of Virginia. He’s there currently, per a 247Sports report.
“Virginia football has big visitor on Grounds,” reports Jacquie Franciulli of 247Sports. “A source tells Wahoos247 that UVA is hosting five-star quarterback Arch Manning on a visit on Friday.”

Watch out, college football fans. Arch Manning might just shock us all and become a Cavalier.
Manning has a few notable connections to the University of Virginia. First off, his mom and aunt attended the school.
“His mom and his aunt are both Hoos,” Jack Fitzsimmons said. “I know he’s not actually going to come to UVa…but can you imagine the hot takes if he actually did?”

It’s also plausible Manning has a strong relationship with Virginia head coach Tony Elliott, who was previously at Clemson.
Clemson was originally believed to be high on Manning’s list, but something changed this offseason. It doesn’t sound like he’s even considering the Tigers anymore. Did Elliott’s departure to Virginia play a factor?
The fact that Virginia was even able to get Manning on campus is notable, regardless of whether or not they land his commitment.
Who knows? Perhaps Elliott can reach into his bag of tricks and shock the college football world.
