Moments ago, Kentucky star Oscar Tshiebwe was named The Associated Press men’s college basketball national player of the year.
Tshiebwe had an incredible season for the Wildcats, averaging 17.4 points and 15.1 rebounds per game. It was evident the West Virginia transfer wasn’t affected by the move from the Big 12 to the SEC.
Believe it or not, Tshiebwe is the second Kentucky player to win the AP Player of the Year Award. Anthony Davis was the first member of the program to receive this honor.
“It is amazing to join somebody like Anthony Davis,” Tshiebwe said. “And that gives me confidence and gives me more help for my future, too, for what I’m trying to do and what I’m trying to accomplish. I’m just putting God first because God knows what I need, and he has great plans for me.”

Tshiebwe has not yet announced his plans for the 2022 NBA Draft.
If Tshiebwe returns to the Wildcats for the 2022-23 season, they’ll be considered one of the favorites to win the national championship.
For now, Tshiebwe is going to enjoy this incredible moment.
