Dan Orlovsky has quickly become one of the top analysts for ESPN. However, he may have missed the mark when talking about the future of Alabama quarterback Mac Jones.
It’s nearly impossible to find a quarterback playing on Jones’ level this season. In 10 starts this year, he has 3,321 passing yards and 27 touchdowns.
Jones’ success doesn’t have Orlovsky sold on his future as an NFL quarterback though. Throughout the broadcast for the Alabama-Arkansas game, Orlovsky mentioned Jones’ lack of athleticism as a real issue for his career moving forward.
Almost every Alabama fan paying close attention to the broadcast was offended by Orlovsky’s remarks. Honestly, it’s hard to blame them since Jones might just be the Heisman Trophy winner this year.
Here are some of the reactions from Alabama fans:
Funny to listen to Dan Orlovosky, career NFL back-up, pick apart the potential first round pick, Mac Jones, and claim he won’t be a good NFL QB.

Dan Orlovsky trying to say that Mac Jones won’t work in the NFL like he wasn’t trying to say Jake Fromm was QB1 during a 3 int game against South Carolina last year

Orlovsky did have some positive things to say about Jones, raving about his decision-making and pocket presence.
What’s so bizarre about Orlovsky’s assessment of Jones is that he compared him to Matt Ryan, who has won an MVP with the Atlanta Falcons.
If Orlovsky isn’t sure Jones will be successful in the NFL, why compare him to a perennial Pro Bowler?
Even though Orlovsky has a few concerns about Jones’ skillset, Mel Kiper believes the Alabama quarterback is a top-25 prospect for the 2021 draft class.
