It’s no secret that Aaron Rodgers was interested in becoming a full-time host for the popular TV game show Jeopardy! — but that dream seemed to die when he returned to Green Bay training camp and executive producer Mike Richards locked down the job.
But now, just one week after Richards was named the new host of the show, another window of opportunity has opened up for Rodgers and other prospective hosts. Richards stepped down from the position on Friday amidst a litany of offensive comments from his past.
In an interview taped before Richards stepped down, Rodgers told Adam Schein of SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio that if the job had been offered to him, he would have taken it.
“Yes, I definitely would have [accepted the job],” Rodgers said. “I mean, if they would have figured out a way to make it work with my schedule, yeah, for sure.”
Rodgers, a super-fan of the show, served as a guest host for a two-week stint back in April.
While the reigning league MVP is clearly interested in the job, it would no doubt be difficult to balance full-time hosting duties with his starting quarterback job in the NFL.
During this year’s offseason conflicts with the Packers, rumors swirled about a possibly retirement for Rodgers. Could a job offer from Jeopardy! be enough to get the 17-year NFL pro to call it quits?
