Aaron Rodgers Names The Wide Receiver He Liked The Most

April 29, 2022 by The Spun

Aaron Rodgers walks off the field on Saturday night.

The Green Bay Packers made two selections in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft tonight, but neither was an offensive weapon for Aaron Rodgers.

Instead, the Packers took a pair of Georgia defenders: linebacker Quay Walker and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt. If Green Bay is going to select a wide receiver, which they absolutely need to do, it will have to be tomorrow night, at the earliest.

Any Packers fans who are disappointed that they didn’t target a wideout tonight can take consolation in the fact that the receiver Rodgers preferred the most went No. 12 overall, well before Green Bay was slated to pick.

If the Pack wanted to get Alabama’s Jameson Williams, who Rodgers said was the most NFL-ready wideout in the draft, they would have had to trade up to do so.

Aaron Rodgers says on the @PatMcAfeeShow that Alabama WR Jameson Williams was the most NFL-ready wide receiver in this draft from what he saw. #Lions traded up to get him.

Rodgers adds: “It didn’t seem like there was a Justin Jefferson in this draft.”

The other thing that Packers fans can fall back on is the fact that there are a number of quality wide receivers still on the board heading into tomorrow. Green Bay has a trio of Day 2 picks–Nos. 53, 59 and 92–and they could take a wideout with one of them, or use their draft capital to move up for one receiver in particular.

Christian Watson (North Dakota State), Skyy Moore (Western Michigan), George Pickens (Georgia), John Metchie III (Alabama) and Alec Pierce (Cincinnati) are just some of the wide receivers the Pack could look at on Friday night.
