Former USC and Georgia five-star quarterback J.T. Daniels is hoping that the third time will be the charm for him at the collegiate level.
Daniels, who entered the transfer portal in January, recently visited Missouri and Oregon State. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, he has set a third official visit to West Virginia for next weekend.
Daniels will decide on a new destination “in the next few weeks” according to Thamel.
Not surprisingly, West Virginia fans seem quite receptive to landing the former blue-chip recruit, particularly given all of the recent Mountaineers who have entered the portal looking for other options.
This has been the likely weekend for a while simply because my three and six-year old’s joint birthday party is scheduled then. https://t.co/jBqb8ZpZDf

West Virginia OC Graham Harrell was the play-caller at USC in 2019. He only got one full quarter with JT Daniels before he was lost for the season as a sophomore due to an ACL injury. Kedon Slovis then took over. Reunion coming in the Big 12? https://t.co/qHhGvV3PAq

Hopefully seeing the wide receivers in the Spring game a couple weeks ago made him want to come to Mizzou. https://t.co/lXBHcuJ8wz

Daniels was a freshman standout at USC in 2018 but tore his ACL in the 2019 season opener and lost his job to Kedon Slovis. Daniels transferred to Georgia, where he made four starts and threw for 1,231 yards and 10 touchdowns.
It was assumed that Daniels would flourish for the Bulldogs in 2021, and he did begin the season as the team’s first-string quarterback. However, he was injured again in the first game, and after returning in Week 3 and resuming his starting role, Daniels was eventually replaced in the lineup by Stetson Bennett.
The Irvine, Calif. native would appear in only two games after the month of September, as Bennett led Georgia to a national title.
