The San Francisco 49ers added to their receiving corps today, signing former Dallas Cowboys wideout Malik Turner.
Turner spent the last two seasons in Dallas after beginning his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks. He did not catch a pass in six games in 2020, but did manage 12 receptions for 149 yards and three touchdowns this past season.
Turner’s best performance came in a 30-16 loss to Denver on November 7, when he recorded five catches for 33 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
He also posted three receptions for 82 yards and a score in a late-season blowout against Washington.

In 21 games with the Seahawks in 2018-19, Turner caught 17 passes for 165 yards and one touchdown. He arrived in the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois.
In reality, this signing is likely nothing more than a depth move for San Francisco. But considering the Deebo Samuel trade rumors that are going around, there will be some fans who wonder if it means the 49ers are preparing for their top receiver to leave at some point.
