It’s only early, but the Vegas Golden Knights have been struck by the injury bug. Now, it’s the NHL, this happens to everyone, pretty well at all times. However, it is the magnitude of these injuries that make it so noteworthy, and really starting to add up. Today the news from head coach Bruce Cassidy is that their number one netminder Adin Hill will be out week-to-week with his current injury. This is compounded by the fact that captain Mark Stone is also recently down with a wrist injury. Furthermore, not only does this news affect the club side, it may also have international team ramifications. So, let’s discuss the details.

Adin Hill is Out Week-to-Week Injury
It seems that Hill hasn’t been right for most of the season. He was pulled twice, and carries a 1-0-2 record through five games. Very uncharacteristic for the usually reliable backstopper. In his last time out, he only played 10 minutes before being relieved apparently following this current injury that will have him miss sometime.
Throughout Hill’s career, he has a 97-64-15 record with 11 shutouts. Also, he carries a 2.62 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. Therefore, it’s not hard to see that he has been off with just one win and an .888 SV% thus far.

What Will Vegas Do
As a lineup note, the Golden Knights have called up Carl Lindbom from the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights. He will provide backup services to Akira Schmid, who is 4-0-0 on the campaign.
Lindbom, 22, is a native of Sweden. He had a solid year in 2024-25 with Henderson, posting a .912 SV% in 36 contests. He will be ready if called upon, and given the timeline provided by Cassidy it is possible he sees some NHL action. Furthermore, he is yet to play in the NHL.
Moreover, this is what makes the professional tryout to Carter Hart all the more interesting. Luckily for Vegas, Schmid has played well, so should be able to stem the tide for the time being.
A Note on Potential Team Canada Roster
The other interesting aspect, of not only the Hill injury, but also the Stone one, is the potential impact it has on their respective bids for Team Canada spots. Hill was one of just three goaltenders invited to the summer orientation camp. He was also a member of the Canadian 4 Nations Face-Off squad back in February of this year. If he misses an extended time, it could allow for others to step up. Goalies like former Golden Knight Logan Thompson or Darcy Kuemper, Scott Wedgewood, or even Cam Talbot has been hot, would love a shot at the exclusive Team Canada roster. As for Stone, it goes without saying the competition on forward will be high. Hopefully they don’t miss much time, not just for Vegas but also their individual Team Canada hopes. Fortunately for Vegas so far, they seem to be handling it well.
