The Florida Panthers Have Some Potentially Serious Injury News to Report

September 26, 2025 by Last Word On Hockey

There’s reports this Thursday evening from South Florida, and it definitely is not ideal. We knew from earlier the day the Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov left the ice with an apparent leg injury. Now, we are getting reports that the news with the leader of the Panthers is not good.

Panthers still awaiting clarity on Aleksander Barkov’s injury, but sounds like there’s internal concern it could involve his ACL.

Hope remains it’s not as serious as feared.

Reports On Aleksander Barkov’s Injury Are Not Looking Good

The two-time, back-to-back, defending Stanley Cup champions do not need this type of news. There appears to be reports emerging this evening that the news could have gone from bad to worst. There is some rumblings that the injury for Barkov involves the ACL. Now, these are preliminary, and there has been nothing official announced from the Florida Panthers organization. So, we will say at this time, to stay tuned.

Barkov has emerged as essentially the best two-way forward in the NHL. Along with the two Stanley Cups, he also claimed the Frank J. Selke Trophy, as the league’s top defensive forward in the past two seasons. He is an absolute machine on the ice, and even with the defensive acumen, he has still compiled 782 career points in 804 contests.

What Will the Panthers Do Without their Captain

Florida as a whole will be in tough without their captain to start the campaign, if that ends up happening. They are already without Matthew Tkachuk until, it is sounding like, the New Year sometime. In addition, combine this with some key, aging veterans like Brad Marchand and goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. They will have to dig deep to start the season with a bang.

Now, this is still a team loaded with top-end depth. The likes of Seth Jones, Sam Bennett, and Sam Reinhart, oh yeah, the list goes on, should be able to stem the tide. In any case, the hope is that Barkov isn’t seriously injured, and he can jump right back on that proverbial horse. Stay locked with us at Last Word as we will bring you the latest developments, whatever the news should be for Barkov.
