It’s time for another round of NHL rumours. We’re in the dog days of summer with training camps still around a month away. However, there’s still plenty going on behind the scenes. General managers are still doing work despite the frenzy in the early part of the summer. Many players have signed contracts, but there are a couple of players that have yet to ink agreements.
One of those unsigned players played last season for the Carolina Hurricanes. This edition of NHL rumours deals with if a reunion between the two sides is possible.
All NHL rumours come from the original source and are subject to change.

Carolina Hurricanes Open to Reuniting with Free Agent Forward
Rumour: Insider Frank Seravalli appeared on the Bleacher Report YouTube channel to discuss a number of topics. The independent insider mentioned that the Hurricanes could bring back unrestricted free agent forward Jack Roslovic.
Analysis: Roslovic is still one of the higher-profile players that has yet to find a home. The Columbus, Ohio native is coming a 22-goal season with the Hurricanes. One would think that some team would take chance on the 28-year-old. However, nothing has materialized as of yet.
He is looking to get a raise from his $2.8 million from last year. However, the veteran forward hasn’t made a decision as of yet. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said that Roslovic has received multiple offers, but he wasn’t rushing to sign any of those deals.
A forward like Roslovic would be a boost to a team looking for depth scoring. However, there have been some seasons where the forward has struggled to put the puck into the net.
Roslovic totaled just nine goals in the 2024-25 campaign split between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the New York Rangers. Carolina took a chance in signing him, but general manager Eric Tulsky’s risky move seemingly paid off.
What It Means
Teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs have been linked to Roslovic in previous editions of NHL rumours. However, there’s one familiar franchise that could be interested in reuniting with the centre.
Seravalli said that the Hurricanes could take a look at bringing back the forward. However, there are a few things working against it. The insider mentions that Carolina may not have a spot for the veteran in the lineup. Carolina could use another middle-six option and he could be an upgrade over current second-line pivot Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
Despite this, Roslovic seemingly didn’t have a regular place in the lineup during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Roslovic was a healthy scratch for a six games during the Hurricanes’ run to the Eastern Conference Final.
Seravalli said there still might be a chance at a return to Raleigh despite some of those reservations. Someone like Mark Jankowski and Tyson Jost could be the odd man out and put on waivers should Tulsky decide to re-sign the forward.
A deal may not have happened yet, but there are plenty of teams interested in Roslovic. Even the KHL has checked in with the veteran forward. However, the clock is ticking.
