NHL Predictions: March 16th St. Louis Blues Vs. Anaheim Ducks

March 16, 2025 by Last Word On Hockey

Welcome to a Sunday edition of NHL Predictions! A new week is upon us and the NHL gives us seven games to start it with. Our prediction looks at the game between the St. Louis Blues and the Anaheim Ducks.

NHL Predictions

St. Louis Blues vs. Anaheim Ducks

Time: 6.00 P.M. EDT

TV: FanDuel Sports Network Midwest, Victory+

Head-to-Head: Blues Lead 2-0

The Blues will go for the season sweep of the Ducks when the two teams meet in St. Louis. The Blues won the first game 6-2, then won the second game in Anaheim, 4-3.

If the Blues successfully sweep the Ducks this season, it will be third season in a row in which the Blues have swept the Ducks. Furthermore, the Ducks have not beaten the Blues since December of 2021 when Troy Terry won the game for the Ducks with an overtime goal on a penalty shot. The Ducks last regulation win against the Blues came in the unique 2021 season.

Back-to-Back Games; Binnington Likely

The Blues are returning home after concluding a road trip. It was an overall successful road trip that included trips to Texas, California, Pittsburgh, and Minnesota. The team returns home for a quick stop before returning on the road again. Have no fear Blues fans, as the Blue Note return for a four-game home stretch after Tuesday’s game.

The Blues are coming off a game Saturday night in Minnesota. Joel Hofer made the start in goal for the Blues, so we expect to see Jordan Binnington get the nod in goal. For Binnington, this is an opportunity to get back on track after a rough game last Thursday in Pittsburgh. Despite the Blues heavily outplaying the Penguins, Binnington allowed four goals and was pulled early in the third period. This was frustrating for Binnington and the Blues, who are needing all the points they can get during the final stretch of games this season. If the Blues want to make the playoffs, they need Binnington to help lead the way.

The good news is that Thursday’s game was just the first bad game by Binnington since his heroics in the 4 Nations Face-Off title game. Binnington has been playing great since then, which has propelled the Blues back into the playoff chase. There is no reason to worry about Binnington’s play, but a strong game against the Ducks will help ease any concerns.

Ducks Starting Road Trip

The Ducks won at home on Friday. Now, the team heads on the toad for three games, all against Central Division opponents. It is worth mentioning that the Ducks are hanging around by a thread in the playoff race. However, their eyes are set towards the 2025-26 season.

However, this road trip is a great chance for the team to get some action in against teams fighting for the playoffs. After visiting the Blues, the Ducks will head to Texas to play a team looking to maintain their position in the Central Division. Even when the Ducks return home next weekend, three of their last four games to close out March will come against playoff-caliber teams.

Prediction

We are going to keep it simple. Binnington bounces back. The Blues continue to score and their fans break out the brooms once again for a sweep of the Ducks.

Blues win, 5-2.

Prop Bets

The over/under is set at 5.5 goals. We are taking the over with seven goals.

For prop bets, we are taking Ryan Strome to score for the Ducks. For the Blues, we are taking Jordan Kyrou to score as looks to reach the 30-goal mark once again. The forward is coming off a hat trick on Saturday in Minnesota.
