Las Vegas, NV (KXST) – As the National Hockey League’s free -agency signing period begins Friday, the Vegas Golden Knights have freed up some salary cap space by trading one of their veterans.
The Knights traded center Paul Stastny to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for defenseman Carl Dahlstrom and a 4th round pick in the 2022 draft.
Stastny was due to make $6.5 million dollars next season, salary that will now be completely picked up by the Jets.
The Knights signed Stastly as a free-agent before the 2018 season.
The 25-year-old Dahlstrom has 10 assists in 64 career NHL games. The 6-foot-4 inch, 235-pound native of Sweden has one year remaining on his contract at $850,000 and will be a restricted free agent at the end of next season.
