Carolina Hurricanes Top-Line Forward Injured in Latest Tilt

March 23, 2025 by Last Word On Hockey

Seth Jarvis injured

The injury bug has bitten the Carolina Hurricanes once again. On Saturday, Seth Jarvis left the game injured after a scary collision during the Hurricanes’ 7-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings.

Seth Jarvis to the locker-room after a nasty impact on the head and slamming hard into the boards. He was able to make it off the ice on his own power, but looked rough. Hate to see it, praying he’s okay.#RaiseUp #NHL pic.twitter.com/9DmKJYwXXy

Seth Jarvis Injured Against Los Angeles Kings

In the third period of the Hurricanes’ game against the Kings, Jarvis carried a pass from Sebastian Aho into the Kings’ zone. Shortly after crossing the blue line, the top-line forward became entangled with Kings winger and former Hurricanes player, Warren Foegele. In the collision, Jarvis fell with an awkward twist to the neck before momentum took over as he slid past Foegele, past the net, and went hard into the boards—his head slamming against them. Laying on the ice after the incident, he appeared to be holding onto his chin. The Hurricanes’ Head Athletic Trainer, Doug Bennett, rushed onto the ice to check him out and assist, but Jarvis was able to leave the ice on his own power.

“First off, that’s not what you want to see. We’re just trying to get through it at that point,” head coach Rod Brind’Amour said regarding the 23-year-old forward’s injury. “I think he looks actually alright. I don’t wanna say, ‘cause you never know when they wake up the next day, but I think we avoided the worst.”

Not the Only Injury

Of course, there have been other missing players on the team as of late. Noticeably absent in Saturday’s tilt was the Hurricanes’ Captain, Jordan Staal. In their previous game against the San Jose Sharks, he had reportedly taken some blocked shots, which resulted in a lower-body injury. Additionally, Shayne Gostisbehere was missing due to illness.

However, there is good news, as Andrei Svechnikov has resumed skating with the team in practice. Meanwhile, Hurricanes General Manager Eric Tulsky noted recently that William Carrier is expected to return to the lineup in time for the playoffs.

What It Means

Jarvis has been instrumental in the Hurricanes’ latest wins, being a force to be reckoned whether at even strength or on special teams. He currently leads the team in goals with 27, as well as short-handed goals with four, and only sits behind Sam Reinhart‘s five for most short-handed goals league-wide. His defensive play has spoken volumes during his team’s difficult stretches, notably increasing his physicality on the ice and his frequency in blocking shots.

Before the game, Jarvis sat on a six-game point streak, while the Hurricanes had won eight in a row. It is unknown how much time the Hurricanes’ young superstar will miss due to his injury, if any. However, an answer may come soon enough as the Hurricanes face the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday, who have had a new and improved look since the trade deadline.
