Brendan Brisson Signed By Vegas

Brisson, 20, has spent the last 6 games with the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights on an amateur tryout agreement. He spent the last two years with the University of Michigan, losing in the Frozen Four this past season. He has recorded 8 points in 6 games. Brisson was picked 29th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft by Vegas.

Brisson recorded 63 points in his 2 seasons with the Wolverines, having 10 goals and 11 assists in his first season, and 21 goals, 21 assists in his second season. In his draft year, Brisson recorded 59 points in 45 games with the USHL’s Chicago Steel.

What This Means For The Golden Knights

Brisson should be a great source of offence for the Golden Knights. He has adapted to the pro level really quickly, being over a point per game with the Silver Knights. Considering this is the first time the Knights have missed the playoffs, now is the time for them to reset, and bring in the youngsters.

With injuries destroying the Knights’ playoff hopes, introducing an offensive-minded forward in Brisson is a good depth move for the Golden Knights. Although he could quickly climb up the roster and be within the top 6 considering his scoring pace in his 6 games in the AHL.

This is also the sixth player from this Wolverines roster to make the jump to the NHL after the heartbreak loss to Denver, as several players including Thomas Bordeleau, Matty Beniers, Owen Power and Kent Johnson have all played in games for their respective NHL clubs in the closing games of the season.

It’s going to be an interesting offseason for the Golden Knights, as they have to reset and get back to cup contention. Signing Brisson may be the first of many moves the Golden Knights will make.
